please don’t get me wrong. i am not denying the utility of my theory or the works that i study. not at all. it’s just that it’s utility lies (imho) in understanding power dynamics and articulating meaningful solidarity. none of it tells you how to avoid being entrapped by coercive control. it can’t.

and yet! ugh! what i’ve learned through my recent experience is that the part of me back then that thought i could learn enough to totally defend myself from interpersonal coercion didn’t go away. It just went quiet, feeling (falsely) fortified with the new knowledge.
