My first introduction to Sir Patrick Stewart was in the 1981 movie Excalibur where he played King Leodegrance of Camiliard, father of Guinevere. He gifted us with thousands of hours of entertainment in his lifetime. It is a very hard week for Trekkies. Farewell Jean-Luc, rest in peace.

I am of the queer generation for whom his role in "Jeffrey" - in 1995, when A) straight men playing gay roles were rare and usually focused on Oscar-bait dramatic work, not gleeful camp with wild outfits, and B) he was still a household name on Star Trek - rewrote our adolescent brain chemistry
