this isn't asking grok for the weather. hurricane forecasts were already statistical models. modeling weather phenomena, a very chaotic thing with essentialy infinite potential data inputs, is probably the 2nd biggest application of AI after medical research

Google DeepMind has proven to be an incredible tool and folks reflexively bashing it should read up on how beneficial it's been for forecasting.

When people hear AI, they only think about generative AI and large language models. Machine Learning Models are exactly the kind of thing that we should be focusing our AI efforts on. They can make sense of the huge quantities of data and patterns associated with weather forecast.
