Many in California were paved over rails used by streetcars people probably thought wouldn’t be just allowed to die. The state has never backed up its rhetoric about transit with adequate funding, the Feds think transit is a gay communist conspiracy. No one’s coming to save our systems except us.

Real talk: I don't think most Californians understand the devastation wrought by Prop 13. The older generation that voted for it blames everything on WASTE and FRAUD. The younger generations doesn't know what it missed out on (tuition free Cal, school buses, etc)

once again noteworthy how the media in these primaries repeatedly portrayed Stevens as a reasonable mainstream Dem and Hong as a "crazy" extremist outside the Dem party. Not just refusing to tell the truth about these candidates but telling people the *opposite* of the truth. It's interesting!
