Nonsense. Support for "rejoin" averages around 47%. This drops considerably to around a third when it is made clear that as a third country, we would have to apply to join the EU from scratch, with no opt-outs or special treatment. Also, 3x as many people see immigration as a priority over the EU.

The UK can apply. The EU and its MSs decide who joins. The UK doesn’t currently qualify and it can’t join the EU if it wants opt outs. Applicants don’t get opt outs.

Thatcher’s opt-outs were lost with BREXIT. And there’s no rejoin article to the EU, the only option is a full admission through article 49. The conditions in the past that allowed some privileges are no longer available due to the geopolitics today.

It’s really disheartening… they are undermining and they will undermine the EU from within. Our Trojan Horse. That’s why the EU needs to be firm and say there is no room for exceptions. The Euros and Schengen are our greatest achievements. More than any trade or movement of goods UK cares.
