I can't remember a time when conservatives have not been generally hostile to attempts to punish or prevent rape. This is not surprising. After all, rape is one of the privileges of hierarchy and the GOP's purpose is to defend the privileges of hierarchy.

Aye the real emotional transformation has to come from truly believing the theory of the good life: virtue truly is its own reward, the only reward. I can persuade myself of myself of that for some moments, and then I really do find it has its stated emotional effect of making me feel in control.

The tweet seemed to be suggesting Trump said these words in the clip linked in the tweet. But I played the video, and he said different words not involving bananas or any such thing. The spirit may be the same, but I'm not sure this is an authentic quote.
