If I didn't have deadlines, I'd write an article about how our read of the cartoon's milquetoast liberal Professor X changes between the 1990s (a decade of liberalism triumphant) and the 2020s (an era of total liberal collapse in the face of insurgent fascism).

It was interesting watching X-Men '97, which is definitely in conversation with the movies as well as the cartoons. The new cartoon tries to split the difference and ends up with "Professor X is a failure."

Our household Trek marathon ironically reached TNG this week. I'm wondering if it'll lead me to reevaluate Season 1 the way I largely enjoyed TOS S3. If nothing else, tonight was The Naked Now, which is genuinely a hoot, if not still an absolutely unhinged episode to air second.
