Federal judges mostly have experience litigating against other white-shoe (or at least federal) practitioners. We need a special master who has been representing Brooklyn tenants in housing court for 40 years and understands the caliber of lawyers at DOJ in October 2026

Also, congratulations to Judge Reyes law clerks who get to take the weekend off.
Show PostThere are a couple reasons Judge Reyes would want to appoint a special master for the misconduct inquiry. (1) She has other stuff to do, including in this case. (2) It provides a buffer for claims of bias from either party. (3) Getting an outside opinion is helpful.
