So I think it's kind of a difference between sort of passively participating in something that is built into society, versus actively working toward creating/reinforcing something awful. The latter is much harder to accept.

…than it is just being a good human. That's the tricky part, I guess, picking a religious conflict that doesn't come with a side of current cultural baggage along the lines of "Xtians in the West are currently on top, so I have no empathy for any Xtian ever in any context."
