Trauma survivors very often need, or strongly benefit from, jobs or situations where the schedule can be flexible & we have input into our working hours & days. It providers a buffer against our super sensitive triggers of feeling trapped & controlled.
Show PostMicromanaging trauma survivors without our invitation or consent is an excellent way to toggle our "controlled" & "in trouble" triggers, no matter how supportively feedback is framed.
Show PostSurvivors of sexual abuse can develop really touchy triggers around our appearance & style of dress. We're not vain or pathologically shy or obsessive compulsive about our looks-- we're managing deeply rooted beliefs & memories around others' reactions to us & our safety.
Show PostAvoiding that "in trouble" trigger requires trauma survivors to consciously, intentionally frame all our deadlines & goals as supportive & aligned w/ our true values & wants-- not potential opportunities for failure & punishment. Don't set yourself up for emotional flashbacks.
Show PostThe fact that you haven't yet found the employment situation that works with your CPTSD instead of against it-- that acknowledges & manages your triggers associated w/ feeling trapped, controlled, or "in trouble"-- doesn't mean that job doesn't exist, or that you won't find it.
