Over on Patreon each day I am sharing my favourite historical train photos from the 1980s just as I did here until earlier this year. Follow along (it's free). I also post updates about Australian train services and discuss what's going on on my railmaps website. www.patreon.com/railmaps/pos...

The Holbrook line fell into disuse before other lines further to the west, presumably because the town's actually on the Hume Highway, which gives a more direct connection to Sydney.

I reckon this here is that same set of points the loco in the 1961 pic was facing. The crane is just to the left and behind me, and I am looking in the up direction.

Can't find my photos without major excavation. Never mind. Here is the crane in 1961! From Country Branch Lines of NSW – the Riverina District.
