To recap: this hearing has been very contentious. DOJ's Stanely Woodward is being obstinate. Judge Reyes is quite obviously angry because she's pretty sure she's being lied to repeatedly. She started the hearing by quoting from the rules of professional conduct, specifically the duty of candor.
Show PostNot everyone is like this, but some people don't get loud when they are enraged, they get really terrifyingly quiet. In my opinion, that's the kind of quiet Judge Reyes was wearing when she abruptly said "we're taking a 15 minute break" just then.
Show PostWoodward now says the meaning of Trump's TS posts "false squarely within executive privilege." Judge Reyes: he posted it publicly! Woodward: I cannot opine as to the president's meaning in a communication.
Show PostDOI attorney's name apparently is Mr. Hoggart. Woodward jumps in to argue that DOI attorney Hoggart has counsel (DOJ) and should be represented by counsel. Woodward says DOI counsel hasn't been sworn in. JR: OKAY LET'S SWEAR
Show Postthe question is not “should the NYT report on this?” (fine whatever) the question is “should the NYT do a full blown feeding frenzy about this such that it is cited in the other big papers and Trump administration DOJ court filings one week before the midterms” (obviously not)
