Probe was mostly like that apart from when Pete Burns (of Dead or Alive fame) was working there. If people tried to buy a record he didn't approve of, he'd refuse to sell it to them and throw them out the shop! He was OK with me buying Patti Smith records :)
Show PostOK this is starting to rival their infamous Trent Bridge innings ... Talk about a collapse! #SAvAUS 🏏
Show PostWe were lucky in that we had John Peel late at night playing stuff like Can, it's where I first came across them, but yeah, otherwise it was an utter desert. We had some good record shops in Liverpool too, esp. the legendary Probe Records. It's even got a Wiki page! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Probe_R...
Show PostCan are one of my favourite bands, "Krautrock", insanely accomplished musicians, very "out there" but also with that very dry German humour. They probably invented about six different genres of modern music, but in the 70s. Sadly, they're all no longer with us now apart from the keyboard player
Show PostIt’s a possible option. I don’t know what that would mean either though!
