When the barista, bartender or server recognizes you and sends out your usual or knows just how you like it, it's a moment of connection and recognition. When AI does it it's just creepy and invasive and likely used to rip you off somehow. I hate it.

you know what else recognizes customers as they arrive? good service industry staff. I have at least two dozen regulars who can be walking up to the bar whose drinks I can have poured and set at their spot before they even get in the door
