jean-luc picard was one of the best, least-toxic, examples of masculinity available to me as a kid. He was someone who showed that refined tastes didn't have to pair with terrible politics: you can be a space communist who leads from the front and loves classical music and theater.

I remember how frustrated I was when the North Carolina legislature gutted its support and lost a lot of its then-burgeoning film and TV industry. People I knew lost jobs and moved to Georgia, which happily took up the slack.

oh that‘s so scary! :( It’s been a long time since an unfriendly dog came at me but I still remember when one came after my first dog and I was screaming for the owner who meandered up and said BEFORE HANDLING HIS DOG, “oh, usually he’s pretty friendly”. okay?? why are people like thissss
