I'm angry with Ava DuVernay for doing this and for her intellectually lazy defense. Her argument is that the software includes AI tools and it's not like she faked dialogue, so it's fine. But faking movement is no different from faking dialogue, and none of that addresses the labor issues.

It is fucking WILD to make a documentary about oppression and within that to use tactics that involve not paying actors and not paying animators, which is part of a socioeconomic process of deskilling and suppression of wages in service of a transfer of wealth to oligarchs.
