A story. Client is a Black artist (and a good one) who advocates for himself. Landlord gets mad and hires a Goon to throw him out at gunpoint and then calls the cops and calls him an intruder. Cops arrest him, and he is released the next morning when they realize Landlord was lying.

Meanwhile, Goon is now living in Client's apartment. Landlord tells me "that guy doesn't have money to pay you to sue us and you'll never sue a fellow Jew." (Telling me "I don't think you'll actually sue me" is historically a really, really bad idea.) Anyway, we sue,

and Landlord's lawyer argues that Client has a mental illness and therefore Landlord had to throw him out. "Let's say you're right," I said. "So Defendant's defense is 'I didn't throw out my tenant for being Black, I threw him out for being disabled.'" Landlord lost.
