I hear Dem operatives going on about how kitchen table issues matter. They do. But why the huge and disproportionate surge in black and Latino turnout? Surely it has to do with assaults on civil rights and immigrants. Democracy may not matter much to Dem operatives; it matters to lots of Dem voters.

NYT gets it both ways. They help Trump and Kennedy, which might turn off a few readers, and they publish this so those same readers will say it is not always bad. Sorry, not good enough. Adding some wine into the piss gets you more piss, not more wine.

I do think a big reason Vivek’s awful ad did as much damage to him as it did is that a lot of his supporters are super racist and were already somewhat uncomfortable voting for a non-white dude
