shortcuts don't save labor. they just shift the skipped labor somewhere else, where it piles up. if a human person isn't correcting shortcuts, they go uncorrected. robust structures with good redundancy can diffuse short cut labor with minimal long term damage.

From over 20 years investigating politicians: if a politician knows they can be openly bigoted towards a group/repeatedly vote against their rights AND still get their support they keep escalating. Being nice with politicians gets you absolutely nothing. They only respond to fear and consequences.
