We often think about embryonic development in the terms of genes that need to be turned on. In the Epstein Lab, I was curious about the gene networks that need to be turned off. My final postdoctoral paper examines the histone methyltransferases GLP & G9a & their association with cell identity. 🧪

Our recently published study in @jci.org identifies nuclear PHB1 loss as a driver of alcohol-associated liver disease and colorectal liver metastasis. Blocking PHB1 nuclear export reduced liver injury, inflammation, oncogenic signaling, and metastasis. doi.org/10.1172/jci2...
