(This, by the way, is the sort of thing you sometimes find in the old/original Gothics. I love me some JANE EYRE and WUTHERING HEIGHTS, but the original Gothics, though admittedly tough reading at times, have moments of utter glorious batshit craziness that makes reading them worth it).

We are in a platinum age of elixirs, witch’s tonics, patent medicines, moonshines, snake oils, and other medicinal quackery. If Barnum could’ve advertised on Reels, the Humbug Museum would be all three branches of government by now. (Not that that’s so far from the case anywho.)
