Because defeating corruption requires enforcing consequences. But nobody has the stomach enact consequences that they believe they themselves may face. This is not analysis. This is just recent history. It is exactly why consequences were not enforced last time.

TBH I think the difference is that Stevens often kind of implies that she is, and comes to the issue primarily from the perspective of the pro-Israel Jews she represented in Congress rather than Christian Zionism.
