...which, given the deposit holding company is run by landlords and heavily favours them, is still a huge victory. It must have really chafed the landlord to lose well over half our deposit. Or as I liked to put it in the text message I sent to my former landlord, "In your fucking face, Alwin!"

...from the lack of a few months rent. We had clearly left the place in such terrible state that he put the property right back on the market and filled it within a month! So, we disputed it with the deposit holding company. This last week, we got over half of the deposit back from the company...
