Ergonomics is absolutely essential. Very partial to mesh task chairs, keyboard tray and making sure monitors are at the right height. Include space for plants. Consider flexibility if you meet with people there. (I have a built-in desk on one side and a desk I can easily move around in the middle.)

Next, bias lights behind your monitor, too — aimed at the wall at about the same brightness as your monitor; reduces eyestrain. You can do all this with Hues, although you'll need to double up bulbs for the video lights. Add a task light that illuminates just your desktop (and not the monitor).
