Except voting isn't an example of the trolly problem because there's more than two options, even if there's only two candidates on the ballot (and no I'm not suggesting just doing nothing as a good third option though it would also be one).

I mean the Democrats are not guardians of the democratic process, anyone that's spent time in third party politics will tell you stories of how hard they will fight you on ballot access, including joining with Republicans to undermine access entirely. It's not enough for someone to just be a Dem.

I'm turning 46 next month. As for an alternative that depends on if you believe we have functioning democratic processes to avail ourselves of. If you do, the key becomes to dump your fixation on only those of a specific party winning elections. What politicians claim to stand for really matters.
