English speakers DRASTICALLY overemphasize honorifics in Japanese. I think it is because they don't exist in English, so they must be VERY VERY IMPORTANT. They treat them like gnostic codex giving them secret insight into this hidden culture. Honorifics are entirely vibes based. And not a big deal
