As may be evident I’m reading Victor Klemperer’s diaries. Volume 3 now, post-war. After years of persecution, he’s one of the few surviving Jews in Dresden. With a constant stream of ‘Aryan’ visitors asking for his help making a case to the authorities. Astonishing change in power dynamics.
