I like films, the odder the better. Interesting music and literature. I occasionally take pinhole photographs.

The battle isn’t over. It’s around dealing with the healthcare crisis mostly. There is significant protest to get a better service & one that is centred around individuals & not ideology.

The Irish theocracy, where Church and State united to control the people of the ‘only true Roman Catholic nation’, was culturally provincial. Genius was rejected; art and literature constrained. This century has been a battle to break free from authoritarianism. Theocracy is the death of the soul.

the other thing that struck me about The Offspring is that Data ends the story with a memory of what it's like to force himself on Riker, and that it is odd how this never comes up ever again

rewatched some TNG, obviously. one of the things that elevates The Offspring is the characterisation of the admiral: he isn't a heartless monster, he's trying to do the right thing, it just conflicts with what we want. he gets to redeem himself by fighitng so hard to save Lal at the end
