Basically, Trump didn't just go after their abuelita and their novio. He went after their workforce with these deportations, as is the case in South Texas. And this came ON TOP of the cost of living. (Guess which group is most sensitive to price shocks?)
Show PostDemocrats have hoped for a decade that Hispanics would revolt against Trump. Hillary Clinton did pretty well with Hispanics but not well enough. Trump 1.0 saw family separation and harsh tactics on the border. Nada. Hispanics flocked to him in 2024. Now the bill is due.

So Williamson squeaked by for Trump in 2024 but Allred also. That was a common 2024 pattern where Cruz was a few points behind Trump. Will-son is true purple so that it won GOP for one and not the other still fits that pattern.
