Having a pet hen leave after a vet visit the night before my favorite holiday was rough. It's difficult to act normal I hope I made her final hours as comfortable and peaceful as possible. She wasn't alone, cold or scared, just gradually went to sleep. Her face looked serene even while now still

It's always strange to touch someone who was just alive shortly ago. I pet her, even as she was long gone. Her painted feathers felt soft as ever. I put her in one of my silk pillowcases and put protection incense stick and flowers atop of her. I don't know if it's silly, it just Felt right
