also, cost, just some back of the envelope math: if google is doing 10b searches/day that fire AI mode, with an average of 5 tokens in (i.e. 50b input tokens) and 500 out (5t output tokens), even at $0.1/mtok in and $0.5/mtok out that's ~$2.5m/day in compute, ~$900m/yr cost for ~$0 revenue

This has got to be saving them a ton of compute because, like, firing off an AI prompt for your cat sitting on the keyboard is a massive waste of resources
