I am sitting here crying, literally crying, thinking about a scene from a silly little cheap show from 30 years ago. That’s something that has real power. It was a gift, and I am thankful for it

I think it hits me especially hard because there have been times in my life where people have tried to lead me to conclusions like that. They knew or believed that I was a good person, and I just needed to see the injustice in front of me. And it hurts to think about.

I’m a Dweeb, but this scene still hits me like a ton of bricks. Goldberg more than holds her own here, she and Stewart together are incredible. She’s not giving him the conclusion, she’s leading him there. It still moves me to tears. It’s masterful. And a lot of it is what isn’t said.

And since I’m talking about Star Trek, the science fiction part of it is really not important. The science, the technology, the occasional space battle, the aliens, none of that matters. It’s a stage on which to tell stories about the human condition.
