I worked in the grocery industry the last 6 years. They absolutely control pricing on everything. Usually a 30-60% mark-up over what wholesale cost they're getting from the suppliers. Supplier costs have risen slightly, but grocery chains used the pandemic to gouge customers and haven't stopped.

First of all, this settlement shouldn't have even happened, companies shouldn't be able to buy their way out of criminal prosecution. It's obscene. Second of all, all of the money should've been donated to Canada's food banks rather than going to anyone who happened to know about it & make a claim.
