Sometimes public giving is a force multiplier — which is good! But it’s hard to forget that in my faith tradition we both called to be a light to others, but also not let the right hand know what the left is doing.

I think about this a lot, especially because I work in a space where: 1. altruistic fundraising is common 2. nonprofit fundraising can *also* be used for marketing “reach” & “conversion rate” of the organizer to sponsors 3. mutual aid is visible 4. I hear a lot privately about financial support
