In my archives visit yesterday, I looked at a decade of engineering school president's reports, 1950s-60s. One of his major and recurring concerns was maintaining humanistic thought and skill as core to engineering education. Anti-humanities was not an inevitable view to take over the profession!!

I've been feeding a tomcat in my neighborhood for years and this week a little grey tabby cat with kittens got hit by a car, so I sat him down and explained the kittens are his responsibility now and they're his kids too and ever since he brings all 3 of them to the front stoop to eat twice a day
