Show PostI ENTHUSIASTICALLY recommend joining the Botanical Society. You don’t need to have any knowledge, there are friendly ppl to guide you & each outing is great fun. Ask any scientist, anywhere, they’ll tell you that botanists are most fun. Plus there are gatherings EVERYWHERE. Grab some joy.

The magical 23rd strikes again! This Dusky Thrush pitched up on dyke about 4ft from me and gave me a bit of a shock! What a stonking bird! Not a bad birthday present either! #OrkneyBirding

The skies were blue, and the chaffinches too... Tenerife Blue Chaffinch were as obliging and confiding as ever earlier this year, another pleasant distraction from orchid-hunting on the island.
