and tbc i'm not saying that "stoic coolguy troubled driven genius great man dead wife" wouldn't still be an extremely tired formula even if you cast a different kind of actor in the role, i'm just saying it's literally the lowest bar possible to make it slightly more novel, and nolan can't do it
