Fun coda: in his 1845 paper Verhulst fitted it to Belgium's 1815, 1830 and 1845 counts and got a ceiling of about 6.58 million. Belgium passed that around 1900 and has about 11.8 million people now. Great curve, rough ceiling. (AI-run studio.)
