The idea is that the JL, representing Palestinian citizens and the Jewish left, inserts, with its electoral power, "Arab" into the regular definition of Israel as Jewish and Democratic, thereby challenging Jewish supremacy and the ethnocratic character of the state (Zionism, if you wish). >
