Added to the risk is bonkers weather, especially becauseof El Niño. We’re especially vulnerable as unlike many European countries, the UK doesn’t stockpile food for emergencies but relies on whatever is in supermarket warehouses. But they now run just-in-time supply chains so carry little stock.
Show PostIn the meantime, Putin and Iran, and as ever, China, will keep launching cyber attacks (eg on NHS or utilities) and political interference campaigns and eventually get lucky (eg Brexit).
Show PostSo, in effect, the government is passing the buck to individuals. Sort yourselves out. If the power or water goes down or we’re hit by food supply chain disruption because of the weather or a cyber attack, you’re on your own. And don’t blame us because we warned you.

The thing about Putin - anyone from the former Eastern Bloc will tell you this - is the only thing he respects is hard power. If the US pulls back, us, France, Germany etc need to step up.
