We tried permanent DST in 1974–I was 9 and remember it—and people hated it. There were constant news stories with terrified children waiting in pitch-black darkness for the bus and an big increase in traffic accidents in the mornings. It was supposed to last 16 months and after 8 was repealed.

Nah. He’s still wrong. Standard Time should be year round is the move. Don’t feel like driving to work in the dark at 8:00am. I don’t live in Alaska.
