ok apparently my info was exposed in a columbia u data breach and i'm in a class action settlement...i can request 2-year credit monitoring and identify theft protection in addition to whatever pittance of a cash payment i will get, but i don't even know how to use that. should i?

There's may be some value in credit monitoring, but after so many breaches I decided to just log into the three credit bureaus and freeze my credit for free (then unfreeze it briefly when I apply for a new credit line somewhere). 🤷
