I don't know if I was stealth or people just didn't care. That is still the case, but stealth protects me from bathroom risks. Especially in my silver haired years. I've been very open in the past, and now I have made my own life very complicated. 😕

I idealized stealth before I was passing well enough for it to be an option. Once I experienced being taken for a cis man I realized how excruciating hiding 38 yrs of my life would be. If it was life or death I could do it. But I'd have to give up authentic connections with other human beings.

I've started seeing cis people telling trans people that "you can just go stealth" in response to our concerns about Democratic transphobia, and even if that were true for all of us - and for many of us, it's not - that is honestly an incredibly gross thing to say. We shouldn't have to.
