Now I don't like those 'pllitics is silly, let's just common sense obvious solutions' parties. I have long list of reasons. But they exist. Because a chunk of people find it appealing. And we need them to get 51. No use crying about it. And Opp possibly better variant than NZF and UF ever were.

Hard to say who is voting for them. Won't be yhe sale people who voted UF or NZF, but will be some. Will definitely be a bunch of people who identify as blue green, and some from the left who are tired of the established parties and throwing the dice. No use being mad at those voters.

They are one of those parties. They explicitly pitch to people who think 'left and right is silly we should go with commonsense'. They phrase it more technocratic and have a different set of crankish policy positions, but that's the pitch. And there's an electoral segment that laps that shit up.

Are they promising to go with the left? Obviously not. That's a core part of their pitch. As it has been in the past for NZF and United Future; 2 other parties that I do not like, would not vote for and would wear a tshirt saying "they are not for me" about.

Very difficult to look at the polls for this election and see a route for a left of centre govt that doesn't include them. That sucks. It's also a fact. Sad, but also true. If Opp get 4.9 it is likely to be sad for the left. That sucks. But it is also true.
