The kids’ pastor I worked for in college was grumpy about fall festivals being free because giving away candy was gateway socialism. He also wrote a play where a kid reads Harry Potter and gets sacrificed by Goths in a city park on Halloween. Even at my most indoctrinated, I thought he was weird.

Well, I did it! I negotiated a 6-month performance raise into the offer letter, so I signed and am starting Nov 9th, after my contract ends! I was laid off on May 13, so this comes to a little less than 6 months unemployed. Actually 5 months I guess given the 1-month contract. I'M SO RELIEVED.
