One working hypothesis I’ve had for a while is that some portion of conservatives explicitly think of themselves as being “villains”- that is to say, like Theistic Satanists, or Disney adults who dress up like Ursula and it gives them a dopey little thrill to be “bad”.

While not free,(sounds like you got a great deal!) it was 130$ a little over a year ago, with a 256GB pcie and a single 16GB ram stick. Felt like a good deal then but now feels incredible haha.

I am not sure what my desktop is, the amazon listing isn't up for it anymore (I bought it over 3 years ago which feels wild! It's been a little workhorse). I think it has a ryzeen 5500u, 24GB of RAM and just integrated graphics. Our main server is a HP Mini PC, the elitedesk G3 I think.
