thinking about Patrick Stewart and Tim Curry and Dolly Parton and Catherine O’Hara and how many of the tributes shared after they died translate to something like “their art made me feel like I wasn’t alone in the world” it is hard to think of a better way to spend a life than that

my compositional sensibilities mainly came from copying illustrators like Jack Potter, Dean Cornwell, Bernie Fuchs, Robert McGinnis, etc etc. using the world/strong design around the subject to frame the work in less conventional ways makes for a really interesting picture!

A few more thoughts on Picard and Patrick. Star Trek Picard was a love letter to the power of intergenerational pain and grief, and finding yourself. Friendship. Love. Forgiveness. No other character could have done this with all of these themes as its core thesis. Because of him. (1/)
