@mattepritchard.bsky.socialPaper alert: first ages for the East Mayotte Volcanic Chain finally published. The large (6.5 km3 of magma) Fani Maoré submarine eruption in 2018-2020 belongs to this submarine chain, which was unknown to science prior to the eruption. www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...
Show PostKansas: NISAR GCOV and soil moisture product animations, once every 12 days since mid-June. NISAR GCOV: using the Worldview color scheme. Irrigation and individual rain events (yellow tends to be areas with higher soil moisture, bright green is urban and high vegetation)
Show PostHad to see if combining ascending and descending data worked- same thing here, with a little sorting by hand of some places where the predicted tides were obviously off (storm surge?). The descending imagery includes a VERY low tide shot at the very end where the sand bars look bright orange.
Show PostWrote the script, no more screenshots. Found that sorting by tides in Anchorage (this is Knik Arm, to the NE) didn't work well. Link to Worldview: go.nasa.gov/4hMfpRn This cycles between most and least apparent inundation. Threw out "windy" dates where the water was extra rough.
Show PostMore fun with NISAR - Bay of Fundy, Canada. Sorted images between June and October by predicted tidal height. Too bad about the gap in the June 29 image! Looking forward to doing this for a longer time series once all the data has been reprocessed back to the beginning of the archive.
