When you start to see it... it's basically everywhere undergirding certain mainstream psychology and cognitive science theories. And it's so insidious and underneath so much methodological and theoretical machinery (pun intended) that we should question it much more.

I suspect that exactly because of this lack of a foundation in argument (it's just an assumption) they feel exposed when called out and get very angry. The naive mechanistic materialist often loves to call others names and assert their own axion-cum-conclusion is mainstream so it's evidently true.
