People have this vision of Scotland, and it's not reality. Otoh I live in a ship-breaking industrial town on the Firth of Forth, and there is something of an eerie beauty in these forgotten industrial places - ships, doocots, ruins and bridges on my morning walk with the hound.

Ref last RT: there's a lane in my village that bore the legend in blue spray point 'Pick it up Paul' for a while. Another lane does get used for dog toileting though. Reason I could never get a dog: picking up the turds. Reason some people should never get a dog: they won't pick up the turds.
